UPDATE: Basketball Camp

We have one more week of camp left!

Week 2 of camp will run from 7/28 - 8/1. We will also be concluding our camp on 8/1 with a little barbeque lunch for our campers.

All campers will also receive their jerseys this week.

Reminder: Basketball Camp 2

Day 1 Registration - Begins at 8:00am Sharp

Don't forget to bring a basketball, basketball shoes, shorts, and WATER!

Day 1
  1. Check-in - Everyone MUST Check in.
  2. Make sure your Paperwork and Camp fees are in.
  3. Camp Jerseys - Be sure to tell Mr. Han you shirt size. EVERYONE will get a reversible Jersey before camp is over.
  4. Rules, Warm-ups, Fundamental drills

Day 2 and on

  1. All students will be split into A,B,C levels.
  2. 8-9, all students will participate in basic fundamental drills
  3. 9-10, all students will rotate to different groups.

Don't forget - Practice ends at 10am and there is NO DAYCARE.

Reminder: Basketball Camp

Summer Basketball Camp at St. Linus School starts on Monday July 21st. Please turn in your permission slip and your $40 fee to the office ASAP.

Who Can Attend: ALL boys and girls, 3rd-8th grade.
Camp Dates: 7/21-31/2008
Camp Times: 8:00am - 10:00am
Please bring: Water, a basketball, proper basketball shoes and attire (p.e. uniforms will work).

ALL participants will recieve a Camp t-shirt.

**Anyone interested in Coaching is welcome to attend the first day of Camp for more information.
**Any St. Linus Alumni interested in earning Service Hours for High School are welcome to attend the first day of Camp for more information.

St. Linus will hold its first annual Girls A Volleyball tournament INDOORS, at John Glenn High School. There will be 3 indoor courts available.

St. Linus Will Host Coaches Training Classes

Dear Parents and Volunteers,

Thank you for your interest in being a Head Coach or Assistant Coach for our St. Linus School Athletics Program. As parents and volunteers coaching is a fun and rewarding way to get involved with our student-athletes while earning service hours.

In an effort to ensure the safety of our student-athletes, you will need to obtain a CYO Coaching Card BEFORE your season begins. CYO rules state that you may NOT sit on the bench during games if you do not have a CYO Coaching Card. Requirements are listed below:

  1. Fingerprinting – A schedule can be found on the Archdiocese Website.
    Please see the office PRIOR to making your appointment. You will need a fingerprinting form.
  2. Virtus Training – St. Linus will host a training session on Wednesday, August 20th, 2008 from 6-9pm.
  3. CYO Coach Like a Champion Training – St. Linus will host a training on Thursday, August 21st, 2008 from 6-9pm.
  4. The completion of the attached documents:
    1. Coaches Code of Conduct form.
    2. Coaches Proof of Fingerprinting form.

Please RSVP with the office for the Virtus and CYO training sessions. ALL paperwork must be completed and submitted to the office ASAP! If you have any additional questions or concerns please contact the office or Mr. Han at 562-921-0336.

St. Linus will host a Virtus Training AND a CYO Coach Like a Champion Training in August of 2008. Both MUST be completed to participate as a head coach or assistant coach in CYO Sports. More information will be available soon.

UCLA vs WSU - I'm Going to College

St. Linus has reserved 100 FREE tickets to the UCLA I'm Going to College program. Tickets will be offered on a first come first serve basis, starting with students who participate in the St. Linus School Athletics Programs. Additional information will follow.

UCLA's I'm Going to College program, the nation's largest collegiate community outreach effort, has touched the lives of thousands of elementary, middle, and high school students across Southern California. Offered through Southern California school systems, this unique program couples the excitement and tradition of UCLA Athletic events with a message about the importance of higher education.

Upon arrival at the event (3 hours before the game), students are greeted by a UCLA Alumnus, current student, or student-athlete volunteer, and are then led to the IGTC fair area. Students are immediately ... (read more)
