2008-2009 Report

On behalf of Sr. Catherine, the faculty, and the staff of St. Linus school I would like to extend my thanks, appreciation and gratitude to all of the parents and students who participated in the Athletics Program for the 2008-2009 school year.

I am proud to say that St. Linus School has maintained a successful and competitive year in C.Y.O. league play, tournaments, and playoffs.
As always, our Girl’s A Volleyball, Basketball and Softball teams all enjoyed great seasons and again made playoffs.

Our Boy’s A program however was not as successful, only making the playoffs in Basketball. We look forward to working harder to make the 2009-2010 season more successful.

I would also like to extend a special Thank You to the parents who committed their time and efforts on this year’s Sports Committee. With your help, we were able to run 2 volleyball tournaments, 2 basketball tournaments, and we were also able to provide dinner for our Sports Awards Banquet. These events generated much of the funding we needed to run a successful Athletics Program.

As a first time Athletic Director for St. Linus School, I was surprised to learn that the operating budget for our Athletics Program was over $22,000 dollars. However, with the hard work of the Sports Committee and the strong support of you the parents, we were able to raise over $25,000 for the 2008-2009 school year.

This amount includes all of our expenses to date, as well as the Sports Scholarships, Sports Award Banquet, and new football Jerseys for the B Team.

Thank you for all of your hard work this year!
- Mr. Han

Sports Award Scholarships:

Each year, one male and female athlete from the graduating class will receive a Sports Scholarship Award.

Congratulations to Alexandra Abeyta and Jonathan Lopez. Each student participated in all programs offered by St. Linus School, and displayed proper sportsmanship on and off the field while maintaining their academics.

This year, the Sports Committee has established criteria to determine who will receive the Sports Scholarship Award.
1. Recipients MUST participate in ALL sports seasons.
2. Recipients MUST display sportsmanship at all times.
3. Recipients MUST maintain a minimum GPA of 2.50 as 7th and 8th graders.
4. Recipients MUST attend a Catholic High School.

Please encourage your students to participate in all of our Athletics Programs, and maintain their academic performance.

The GPA requirement will apply to the 8th grade year for the class of 2010, and both 7th and 8th grade years for all classes that follow.
